Miss "Crow" it All...the FLO GRIS

Back ground about the museum...in the marsh-fringed land of Old Lyme lived a sea captain's daughter named Miss Florence. In order to make money to keep her house, which is now the Flo Gris, she welcomed people visiting OL to stay with her in what became known as the boardinghouse. Henry Ward Ranger, a painter from New York City, was one of the first artists to stay at the boardinghouse. He promised to bring his friends to fill up the house and prepared to paint outside, or en plein air and formed a group called the "Lyme Art Colony". The Flo Gris is conveniently located between the cultural hubs of Boston and New York in the lush countryside of Connecticut, Lyme soon attracted a flourishing colony of artists.

The SCARECROW EVENT! The SCARECROW event at the museum running through Oct 31st is simply amazing! Both myself and my daughter spent the afternoon with our friends and had a great fall harvest adventure. These SCARECROWS are so unique and creative set atop the rolling marsh side lawns. The beautiful grounds are stunning and provided us the opportunity to see the work of many talented local and famous artists. When we left my daughter asked, "can we come again tomorrow?".
The Flo Gris is by far one of the most beautiful places in Connecticut to visit and is continuously providing unique events for every season. It is a true historical landmark, set in a beautiful location, making it easy to fall in love with OL.

Crows and Ravens Filled every empty space! We even picked up some at the gift shop! I have been on a raven hunt for a while!
I just loved this idea!

Beautiful!
She was enthralled with this exhibit. Some were slightly scary, some were just beautiful!
Scary!

Great place for kids, as they are allowed to roam freely outside!

An overall great day..lots of laughs and screeches roared through the Flo Gris this afternoon!
